Once upon a time, a looong long time ago, my mum sent me on a Knit Wit course with my best friend - yes, sewing for dummies. And away we stitched; lime-green leopard-print singlets, the lot.

Next in the timeline came my first posh fashion job, working in a boutique that sold shoes and some clothes. The lovely owners noticed I made my own clothes and one day asked if I'd like to try and sell them through the shop. Next thing I know I'm having a quick lesson in how to sew properly from my nan, who would not let me use my usual safety pins to keep things together, and people are actually buying the things I make - amazing.

This prompts me to change my University course for the 5th time, and, in the midst of mum tearing her hair out, I start a Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Textiles at a University in Sydney.

Mid way through, I get an unimaginably lucky break and land a job with the Fashion Editor of the Sydney Morning Herald - one of Australia's most respected broadsheet newspapers. Here I toiled away with guidance and mentoring from the cleverest fashionista and sharpest section editor ever. What began as a celebrity column about how to put on makeup, ended with me putting together several fashion and beauty pages, from writing the articles, to testing the lipsticks, to casting the female and male models

From there it was onto Australian Women's Weekly where I learnt all about the glossy world of magazines in the midst of more fashion, beauty editing, and a big injection of celebrity. I got to spend a week with Naomi Campbell, a day with Kylie Minogue, feel frumpy in front of amazing superduper models, movie stars and singers, sit in the front row of international fashion shows with my sunglasses on, and feel proud to see my work in print every week - all the while trying to avoid becoming a champagne addict.

Next was a big holiday overseas - Africa, Europe, Russia, living in London, working hard back on the magazines and newspapers, and partying it up as only one can in London. Single girl, single lifestyle... what? Is that a b-b-boyfriend?

No, that's now a husband. Which brings us up to today. I have suitably acquired a husband who engineers stuff in all the best parts of the world - Poland, Croatia, Romania, Middle East, Crewe, are just some of the options. So here I am, year 2003, with my travellable fashiony internet business, doing what I love, which enables me to travel with whom I love.

Fluff (what my friends call me).
